00:00:26
VERONICA BELMONT: And this is
our guide to authors show,
00:00:28
where each time we introduce you
to a great new author and
00:00:30
then bring them up to the space

00:00:34
TOM MERRITT: This week, it's
our guide to the creator of
00:00:36
the Dresden Files,
Mr. Jim Butcher.
00:00:45
VERONICA BELMONT: Born and
raised in Independence,
00:00:47
Missouri, author Jim Butcher
cites traditional high-fantasy
00:00:50
luminaries such as Tolkien and
CS Lewis, as well as works
00:00:53
like the Han Solo Adventures,
as being major
00:00:55

00:00:57
TOM MERRITT: But Butcher is

TOM MERRITT: Butcher is also
something of a betting man.
00:01:34
In 2004, he was challenged by a
member of the Delray Online
00:01:37
Writers Workshop to
write a good story
00:01:40

The story Butcher wrote became
